A 26-year-old male presented with dysuria and severe burning during urination for the past four days. He also complained of testicular tenderness and penile discharge. He had multiple relationships in the past. Physical examination: Blood pressure: 110/79 mmHg Pulse: 75 Body temperature: 37.6°C Further examination revealed mucopurulent cloudy discharge from the urethra and swollen testicles. He also complained of fatigue, pain in knees and joints and conjunctivitis.
Urethral and blood samples were obtained and sent for microbiological examination. Grayish white, opaque, slightly raised colonies with a diameter of 1-2 mm were observed on the Thayer Martin and chocolate agar plates incubated at 37°C in a 5% CO 2 environment.
