President Ram Nath Kovind, on Wednesday, signed an ordinance on a committee, who will be in charge of the duties of the Medical Council of India until the Parliament passes the legislation on the National Commission Bill. A panel of seven members will be in charge till the MCI is replaced by the proposed National Medical Commission. Following the ordinance, the Health Ministry issued a notification asking MCI members to vacate their offices immediately. The notification further stated that a board will be constituted to take over the functioning of MCI. The Board of Governors will be chaired by NITI Aayog member Dr.
