The Medical Council of India (MCI) yesterday issued a circular urging all the teaching hospitals in the Telangana State to start collecting biometric attendance of the teaching faculty. From December 1,2017, biometric attendance will be considered during assessment of all teaching faculty, except for junior and senior residents, the circular said. The new attendance project ‘Online Faculty Monitoring System’ (OFAMOS) will enable Medical Council of India (MCI) to track real-time attendance of all faculty members in government and private teaching hospital in the State.

There are close to 4,500 biometric devices that have been installed in various teaching hospitals in the country to record the attendance of teaching faculty.
