Metabolic syndrome has been shown to increase the risk of breast cancer and is associated with a poorer prognosis in breast cancer patients. To explore these associations further, a systematic review of 17 studies was conducted to assess the impact of metabolic syndrome on breast cancer outcomes in 42,135Β breast cancer survivors. The meta-analysis revealed that breast cancer survivors with metabolic syndrome at the time of diagnosis faced a significantly higher risk of recurrence (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.69), increased breast cancer mortality (HR: 1.83), and shorter disease-free survival (HR: 1.57) compared to those without metabolic syndrome. These findings underscore the negative impact of metabolic syndrome on breast cancer outcomes among survivors.
The study advocates for metabolic screening in breast cancer survivors. Did you find this article interesting? ##Reference##β¦
