Highlights Sleep surgery can reduce the incidence of motor vehicle accidents in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Sleep surgery can be an alternate treatment option for OSA patients who struggle to adhere to continuous positive airway pressure therapy. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) increases the risk of motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), with affected drivers having a 2.4 times higher crash rate (1) . Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy and surgical interventions are available to treat OSA.
