Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a dangerous pathogen and is also known as a superbug. It is most commonly associated with hospital-acquired infections. This publication synopsis covers a study conducted in 15 Indian tertiary care centers during January 2008 to December 2009 to determine the prevalence of MRSA and susceptibility pattern of S. aureus isolates. Aim This retrospective study provides a national-level initiative to understand the emerging trends of antimicrobial resistance among clinical isolates of S.
