A 57-year old breast cancer patient with lung metastases presented to her physician with repeated and worsening episodes of vomiting and nausea. She had been given SIRT with 90 Y resin microspheres two months prior to this without any complications. The patient had also received chemotherapy with 5-FU, cyclophosphamide, gemcitabine, and trastuzumab at the time of receiving SIRT.
Four weeks later, she had to be hospitalized for nausea and vomiting and was treated symptomatically.
