The medical education system in India is facing problems like underperformance and skewed distribution of medical colleges, increasing capital fees, devaluation of merit in admission process particularly in private institutions, an alarming shortage of teachers, and many more. In order to overcome these issues and bring in massive improvements in the country’s medical education system, the Indian Government has taken a solid step. The long-awaited National Medical Commission (NMC) bill has been approved in Lok Sabha repealing the Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act 1956.
Earlier the bill was proposed in the parliament on December 2017 which was terminated in Lok Sabha.
