I was a little depressed reading yet another frustrated comment on the current state of doctor-patient relationship. As doctors, we know just like crying loudly in an emergency won't do any good, whereas the slightest positive step may bring lasting relief even in a complicated situation. Recently I read an article where supreme court verdict awarded patient with medicolegal compensation of above 10 crore. I am not in practice but if I were, I would be definitely anxious.

But assume in an inexact science like medicine (we still have lots of areas we fail inspite of our best efforts) most patients dont sue. And even most cases don't survive much in court (refer PPscheme statistics). But on our part, how many are transparent and diligent in record keeping , getting patient feedback etc.? Commissions and kickback practice are definetely a reality and patients have no partnership in it.…
