Coccygodynia, or coccydynia, is a disorder commonly classified under the diagnosis of pelvic pain, but it may be misdiagnosed as low back pain or sacroiliac joint pain, because pain may refer to the sacroiliac or lumbar areas. As coccygodynia refers to a specific symptom (pain), it can have different causes. It commonly results from a fall onto the buttocks or trauma during childbirth, causing a partial dislocation of a joint in the coccyx or overstretching of the ligaments and muscles attached to the coccyx.
Muscle spasm and pain in the tissues around the coccyx may result. What are the physical interventions for the management of Coccygodynia? Reference: Clinical Cases in Physical Medicine
