Apart from the commonly observed inguinal and ventral hernias, there are about 15 different types of hernia that are found to occur in the abdominal wall structures. The uncommon abdominal wall hernias include Spigelian hernias, lumbar hernias, post-laparoscopy trocar hernias, obturator hernias, and perineal hernias. Most of these hernias are best managed with prosthetic graft or by a laparoscopic approach unless strangulation obstruction is present.
