A preterm neonate was born at 32 weeks of gestation. After 14 days post-birth, the baby presented with episodes of vomiting, followed by respiratory distress and was readmitted. The respiratory distress was managed with low-flow nasal oxygen and a fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO2) of 50%, with intravenous antibiotics. Chest radiograph: Performed after a day of admission, it revealed diffuse infiltrates in bilateral lung fields. In the following two days, the neonate experienced clinical deterioration in the form of increasing respiratory distress (FiO2 requirement reaching 70%).
CPAP was initiated and the patient was normalized. The neonate was continued on CPAP support in the subsequent days.
