A 15-year-old Caucasian female presented to an emergency department with fatigue, malaise, and progressive painful midline neck swelling for the past four weeks. However, the patient was not experiencing any dysphagia. The thyroid gland was enlarged, non-nodular, and tender. Thyroid function tests (TFTs) revealed FT4 (free thyroxine), 1.00 ng/dL, and TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone), 1.54 UIU/mL. Thyroid ultrasound showed diffused enlargement of the thyroid gland along with thickened isthmus.
