In order to strengthen the health care sector and increase the availability of doctors, the Union Cabinet is likely to approve an increase in the retirement age of government doctors, from 60 years at present to 65. As per the cabinet, the Government doctors are largely the only recourse for the poor, particularly in the country’s rural areas.
