Several research groups have reported the increased risk of preterm and low-birth-weight deliveries in women with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A recent study compared the pregnancy outcomes of 657 women with RA, 170 women with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) to 564 control women without any autoimmune disease. The study concluded Maternal disease activity along with corticosteroid use as the primary risk factors for preterm delivery in women with RA or JIA.
