Synopsis To efficiently navigate the social world, humans have possessed a crucial ability to interpret social dominance cues. This ability varies within individuals, therefore, some individuals are more attuned to cues of dominance than others. Recent studies have shown that individuals with social anxiety show increased sensitivity to dominance signals in comparison to individuals without or low social anxiety. Building on these recent findings , the current study aims to examine the effect of the chemosignal (Androstadienone) in conveying dominance and inducing a submissive-avoidance response from high social anxiety (HSA) participants.
