The patients suffering from chronic kidney disease and having co-morbidities like diabetes or heart disease are always at the highest risk of hyperkalemia. This article discusses a study which was carried out to investigate the safety and efficacy of Patiromer in the patients who had CKD and also receiving renin-angiotensin-aldosterone inhibitors. The patients at the higher stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are always at higher risk of hyperkalemia. The risk increases in case of co-morbidities like diabetes, heart disease and if the patient is receiving renin-angiotensin-aldosterone inhibitor (RAAS).
