Case presentation An athletic, 30-year-old male was referred to the surgical emergency unit as he had severe pain in the right iliac fossa which had started as mild abdominal pain three days ago. He did not experience any of the following symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, changes in bowel habits (last opened on the day of admission), pain, bleeding, melena, mucus on defecation, unexplained appetite loss or weight loss, any genitourinary symptoms, flu-like symptoms, and rigor.
