While reading about recent natural and man-made calamities all over India, I came across grave findings from the various organizations regarding the nature of national disaster preparedness. In a country of 1.25 billion, unfortunately over 1,37,000 people succumb to death each year on our roads. In addition, National Disaster Management Authority figures suggest that average 2000 persons lose their life per year in a variety of natural disasters around the country. Lastly, man-made disasters also have serious burden of death on our country.

It would not be wrong to say that many of these lives could have been saved, if these persons had given appropriate first-aid given to them.
