Case presentation A 47-year-old female who works as a hairdresser presented with complaints of pain in the right leg on prolonged standing. She also noticed unsightly, distended veins in that leg for the past two years. For the past three months, she had itching of the skin just below the knee with a red patch in that area. She is currently on hypertension treatment with no other notable history. She has two children. Physical examination A distended vein could be felt in the medial aspect of the mid-thigh running down to the knee.
There were numerous varicosities around and below the knee. There was an erythematous patch of skin approximately 3 cm in diameter overlying one of the below-knee varicosities.
