The Supreme Court on Monday canceled the admission of 634 students who got admission to the MBBS course in various medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh after 2010 by illegal means. These students had cleared the entrance tests for medical colleges conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Vyavasayik Pareeksha Mandal (Vyapam) or Professional Examination Board. The order came from a three-judge bench who refused to give any relief to the students in question. Earlier, a two-judge bench had delivered a split verdict and the matter was referred to a larger bench.
Vyapam had canceled the 634 admissions. While one Justice allowed them to complete their studies on the condition that they serve in the army or rural areas for five years without salary, a justice wanted them to be barred.
