A 16-year-old female patient presented at a renowned hospital in Delhi with a complaint of swelling on the back of her left thigh. According to the patient, the swelling increased in size over time and restricted her movements. She also gradually experienced pain and numbness down the limb. Surgeons at the hospital conducted imaging tests and a core needle biopsy and discovered a soft tissue tumor in the patient’s left thigh. Notably, the tumor completely encased the left sciatic nerve, which made the treatment complex.
Surgeons meticulously planned to preserve her limb and completely remove the tumor to avoid its recurrence. However, they counseled the patient for limb-sparing surgery and amputation.
