Surgical processes trigger Guillain-Barre’ syndrome (GBS) in 15% cases. The patients with previous history of malignancy or autoimmune disease may predispose to development of postsurgical GBS. GBS is a disease where body’s immune system acts against the peripheral nervous system. The sign of this disease varies from varying degree of weakness or tingling sensation in legs. The symptoms can increase to a degree when certain muscles can stop working making the person paralyzed.
It can also be life threatening in severe conditions which can potentially interfere breathing and heart rate.
