Surgeons at a Saudi Arabia hospital have performed the world’s first robotic heart transplant on a 16-year-old boy with end-stage heart failure. Upon the young patient’s request to conduct a less invasive surgery without opening his chest, a team of surgeons decided to perform a fully robotic heart transplant . Before the surgery, they meticulously planned it over weeks. Notably, they prepared themselves by performing a virtual simulation of the surgery seven times over three days. Surgeons performed the robotic surgery in just two and a half hours without a chest incision.

The patient is expected to recover faster than the conventional open-heart surgery and have improved clinical outcomes. Did you find this article interesting? Share your views by commenting below!
