The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) provided recommendations on Balloon Thermal Endometrial Ablation (BTEA) and discussed its safety and efficacy. BTEA procedure is applied as a treatment of heavy menstrual blood loss by removing a portion of endometrial tissue lining. This article highlights the recommendations provided by NICE. BTEA procedure employs heat to destroy the tissue. A deflated balloon is inserted into the uterus through the vagina and the cervix and then filled with heated liquid to ablate the uterine lining.
