With the advent of Pap test and the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, cervical cancer has become largely preventable. Still, every year in India, 122,844 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and 67,477 die from the disease. Despite these alarmingly high mortality rates, there is no nationwide government-sponsored screening program. Taking these facts into consideration, this article discusses approaches to increase cervical cancer screening awareness along with practically suited screening test for resource‑poor field settings.
