Today, the World Health Organization (WHO) published its first 'essential diagnostics list'- a log of tests that are needed to diagnose the most common medical ailments as well as several global priority diseases. This step was taken to address the problem of people's inability to access diagnostic services, further failing to access and receive proper treatment. In this regard, the WHO Director-General said that an accurate diagnosis is a preliminary step to get effective treatment and no one should suffer or die because of lack of diagnostic services, or because of unavailability of the right tests.
