While losing teeth remains a fear for many, different people across the globe lose teeth for a variety of reasons. Artificial dentures are widely used but may not always be comfortable as a person’s own teeth. Two recent research groups have made it possible for individuals to regrow their own teeth. While research of the first group shows that it is possible to create bioengineered tooth buds that act like natural tooth buds and can allow teeth to grow, the second group has found a way to modify stem cells to partially repair teeth that have been damaged.
