A 29-year-old female who was at 19+5 weeks of gestation was referred to a fetal medicine center to perform a level II ultrasound scan as she tested positive for syphilis during serology examination in the first trimester. Upon examination, no clinical manifestations of the disease were found. Two years back, the patient reported a history of a feverish erythematosus maculopapular rush localized to trunk, limbs, palms, and soles. Clinical examination The diagnosis of syphilis was performed only during antenatal screening in the first trimester by a venereal disease research laboratory and a treponema pallidum hemagglutination assay (TPHA) title of 1:2560 was performed.
