Case presentation:   A 24-year-old male Air Force personnel presented with a 5-month history of back discomfort radiating to the left buttock, leg, and great toe. There was no known reason behind this. He gave himself a rating of 7 out of 10 on the pain scale. Lifting, coughing, bending, and jogging worsened the discomfort, which eased marginally after rest. He was unable to execute duties on the flight line due to the pain.

Despite treatment with physical therapy and drugs such as prednisone, his condition did not improve. Epidural steroid injections reduced the symptoms by around 25% for a short duration.
