Abdominal pain in children due to appendicitis is quite common, delayed diagnosis in such cases always end s up in an emergency surgical intervention. Clinical manifestations of acute appendicitis in adolescents are bit similar to elder persons. However, diagnosis in younger children is quite difficult, due to nonspecific, overlapping and inadequately expressed symptoms. This article discusses the clinical presentations of acute appendicitis in children.
Mostly nonspecific obstruction due to fecal material, undigested food or an enlarged lymphoid follicle in the epithelial lining, leads to the acute abdominal pain and causes appendicitis.
