A 65-year-old male presented with the history of increased diurnal frequency of micturition, difficulty in micturition, frequent attacks of urinary tract infection & episodes of near retention for the last one and half years. Clinically, vitals were stable with no significant abdominal examination finding except smooth, firm prostatomegaly on per-rectal examination. Plain X-ray KUB was showing multiple calculi in the pelvic region. Ultrasonography was suggestive of multiple bladder calculi with bilateral large diverticulum with enlarged prostate and significant residual urine.
Upper tracts were normal on sonography. Intravenous urography with voiding cystography revealed two large diverticulae on either side of normal ureters with multiple calculi in bladder and diverticulum. Do you agree that coming across this size diverticulae of bladder is rare in surgical practice ? Please share…
