It has been made out by me that Calcium estimation in OP poisoning showed low values and by giving calcium infusion it is possible to improve the level and reduce or prevent the use of ventilators in these cases. By means of this measure, the therapy is also made economical. A paper was presented on this research at APICON 1998- Bangalore- calcium in OPP. This was used in Manipal Medical College and the results of my study were confirmed. There was a dissertation done on this topic by a postgraduate in Medicine who communicated to me on this.

This is an important contribution by an Indian in the therapy of OPP. The dose given was in the form of calcium gluconate 10 ml ampoule as I V infusion every 6 hrs till the condition improves.
