The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is on the rise. Studies indicate that the figures rose from 7.1% in 2009 to 8.9% in India itself in 2019. 1 Diabetic neuropathy is commonly manifested as a burning or shooting pain in the lower legs, loss of sensation in the feet, and associated problems. Different types of diabetic neuropathy are peripheral, autonomic, focal, and proximal neuropathy.

2 Of these, diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) has a higher prevalence, ranging from 18.8 to 61.9% in India.
