In the earlier decade when MMR (Maternal Mortality Rate) was above 200/one lakh births, mothers were dying very often. When IMR (Infant Mortality Rate) was >120/ 1000 live births every 8th baby was dying. Nobody was bothered. Doctors were respected as Gods and there were no attacks. Science and technology and skills had improved. MMR had come down to <75 and IMR had come down to < 34 in many states. But the attacks on doctors and hospital had increased many folds.
In the past, parents use to think, “Many mothers are dying during delivery, and my daughter/wife/baby also died, it is our misfortune or fate”. But now the feeling is different.
