According to the World Malaria Report of 2018, India reported almost 3 million fewer malaria cases in 2017. The country accounts for 4 % of world’s total malaria cases and does not stand in the top three countries in the world anymore with respect to malaria cases. This was mainly achieved by scaling up the diagnostic testing followed by treatment and surveillance. This successful transition was achieved by ensuring an uninterrupted drug and diagnostic supply chain.

The community workers were trained to diagnose and treat all the fever cases. More importantly, the number of deaths by malaria in India has reduced by two thirds since 2000. Source: Hindustan Times
