Diabetic dermopathy is a common skin manifestation often observed among patients with long-standing diabetes mellitus. However, the exact origin of this condition is still unknown, but it is known for its association with various microvascular complications. Furthermore, in various instances, patients with this condition remain asymptomatic, and thereby the diagnosis can be missed and interpreted as other skin infections.

In this video, Dr. Deepthi Kondagari presents a case of diabetic dermopathy where a geriatric patient with long-standing diabetes presented with visible reddish-brown lesions on his anterior shins. Furthermore, she also discusses other aspects of diabetic dermopathy including the differential diagnosis, risk factors, etiology, and different management strategies which would help in better disease management in patients.
