Diabetic dermopathy is the most common skin condition occurring in up to 70% of patients with diabetes mellitus. These are characterized by small, round, hyperpigmented lesions occurring on the shins, known as shin spots. These lesions are asymptomatic and are mostly common in older patients with longstanding diabetes.
