A 64-year-old man presented to the ED with acute onset of severe back pain. He is unable to stand upright, has weakness in his legs, and has restricted movement due to pain. The man's weakness was rated three to four out of five on examination. The patient had a history of grade 1 skin cancer for which he had received curative surgical treatment.
