Transient leukemia of Down Syndrome (TL-DS) is a hematologic disorder marked by an excessive proliferation of myeloblasts in the peripheral blood and bone marrow. It primarily affects newborns and children with Down syndrome. While the occurrence of hematological malignancies in adolescents with Down syndrome is equivalent to that of adults, the occurrence of acute myeloid leukemia in these children is 500 times higher in the first three years of life. Furthermore, 10% of infants with down syndrome develop transient leukemia. It is, therefore, essential to know the basics of TL-DS.
