The Abu Dhabi Department of Health (HAAD) recently drafted guideline for the effective use and availability of antidotes for poisoning-related emergencies in the UAE. According to the new guideline: The antidotes must be made easily available to the emergency departments and centers dealing with poisoning cases and used in a safe manner. It will be mandatory for healthcare providers to ensure a continuous supply of antidotes in departments dealing with poisoning-related emergencies.

The health care facilities with licensed emergency services will be liable to submit periodical reports on existing stocks. An updated list of the essential antidotes along with their levels will be supplied to these centers as well.
