With increased knowledge of maternal hypercoagulability, anticoagulation therapy during pregnancy has become widely prevalent. Many studies have suggested minimally invasive spinal anesthesia in the cesarean section. A recently published report in BMC Anesthesiology assessed the feasibility and safety of minimally invasive spinal anesthesia along with anticoagulation therapy in patients undergoing a cesarean section.

Their results found that minimally invasive spinal anesthesia during cesarean section with anticoagulation is a safe, reliable, and feasible option with higher maternal satisfaction, normal platelet count, and coagulation time. Source: Huang et al. BMC Anesthesiology 2019, 19:11
