A new study published in the Gastroenterology Research and Practice evaluated the eradication rate, safety and compliance of minocycline-containing bismuth quadruple regimens in patients with an untreated Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection. This study recruited 360 patients with an untreated H. pylori, between 2017-2018. Patients were randomly divided into – minocycline/amoxicillin (RMAB) group, minocycline/metronidazole (RMMB) group or amoxicillin/clarithromycin (RACB) group.
All groups received a combined treatment approach with rabeprazole and bismuth to create a quadruple regimen for 14 days. A 3- to 5-day follow-up was adopted to evaluate the safety and compliance of medications after the intervention. 13C-urea breath test was performed to confirm the eradication of H. pylori4-12 weeks after therapy.
