A 29-year-old female psychiatric patient, who was absconding from a psychiatric hospital, was brought to the ED after she consumed 200×200 mg carbamazepine CR tablets. Physical examination showed a pulse rate of 70 beats/min, a temperature of 36.4°C, blood pressure of 110/70 mm Hg, and a respiratory rate of 14/min. She was closely monitored and became increasingly drowsy. As a result, her Glasgow Coma Score fell to 12/15.
