Highlights – Acid exposure on reflux monitoring predicted capacity to quit proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy without symptom worsening in individuals with normal reflux symptoms, poor PPI response, and no severe esophagitis. Preventing needless PPI usage and guiding tailored treatment is possible with upfront reflux monitoring without acid suppression.
