Synopsis Tuberculosis is a major global health concern and about 25% of persons worldwide have a latent infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Treatment of latent infection is highly necessary in children in order to reduce the risk of life-threatening forms of the disease and to prevent future M. tuberculosis transmission. In this study, the safety, side-effect profile, and adherence of 4 months of rifampin with 9 months of isoniazid in children was compared in a randomized trial. The present study compares Rifampin and Isoniazid treatment that has better efficacy for the treatment of Latent Tuberculosis in Children.
