Synopsis Urinary tract infection (UTIs) is one of the most common infections of childhood and also the most frequent infection of the urogenital system. Tubulointerstitial inflammation is believed to be playing a role in the formation of renal scarring secondary to acute pyelonephritis (APN) which ranges from 5 to 57% of cases. In order to combat such conditions, antibiotics prescribed are often not effective in preventing kidney scarring.

Vitamin A is an anti-inflammatory agent which is known to be involved in the re-epithelialization of damaged mucosal surfaces.
