Tyrosine kinase 2 (Tyk2) is an intracellular enzyme that participates in signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) signaling pathway to induce production of inflammatory cytokines. These cytokines are involved in pathological responses of various immune-mediated disorders, including psoriasis. Preclinical and a phase I trial have shown preliminary evidence of the effect of a selective Tyrosine kinase 2 (Tyk2) inhibitor, BMS-986165 on psoriasis.
