A male patient aged 40 yrs suffering from Gout is taking Allopurinol daily, 100 mg OD. He has been taking regular treatment since 3 years. One day he presented to me with Acute abdomen. Suspecting ureteric colic, l advised ultrasound abdomen where in he was diagnosed with multiple renal calculi .To be precise 5 stones in left and 4 stones in right kidney the sizes varying and all less then 10 mm. One stone at ureterovesical junction, 6 mm.

Treatment with fluids, fast drip along with antispasmodics was given. IV sedation and lasix was given and patient got relief over 12 hrs. Advised him to take 3 litres of water daily and regularly. Later l advised him to take potassium citrate , 10 ml in a glass of water 2 times a day for 10 days and then continue taking 10ml of PC daily at night indefinitely as he is on Allopurinol where he would keep developing uric acid stones regularly.
