Synopsis  Primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by a decrease in salivary flow rate and xerostomia. Dental caries is observed more in pSS patients than in healthy subjects. As per the Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation recommendations, production of the saliva should be surged by triggering saliva secretion in pSS patients who suffer from dry mouth to curb caries. Pilocarpine, a salivary stimulant, belongs to parasympathomimetic drugs that bind to the muscarinic receptors on the exocrine glands. This Journal Watch covers “ The Study Of The Effect Of Pilocarpine On Dental Caries In Patients With Primary Sjögren’s Syndrome ,” from Arthritis Research And Therapy, 2019 .
